Crafting Gem’s coif proved to be quite an undertaking, according to Bemben. “We bought 29-inch-long hair extensions—which are difficult to find on the market—and bleached them white,” she says. “Then we created a wig with a lace piece across the front to secure it onto Beau’s forehead.” Between making sure the lace strip didn’t ripple after being glued on, working with Da Silva to cover up telltale fabric, and styling the cascading wig accordingly, Bemben says the daily process took well over an hour: “It was a very extreme situation, but it worked out amazingly, and I’m proud of the results—you can’t tell that Gem is in a wig, which is kind of cool.”“I wanted the Sirens to have doll-like eyes,” says Da Silva, who complemented actresses’ blue contact lenses with a bold burst of fringe. For eyeliner, Da Silva layered M.A.C Eye Pencil in Ebony over M.A.C Fluidline in Blacktrack. To set and add depth, she patted M.A.C Eye Shadow in Carbon and Ben Nye Lumière Grand Colour in Starry Night over the top.
